[Israeldogdefense] Important letter re security situation in Israel and our dog program

Brief update re security situation in Israel and re our canine defense program:
Dear friends and supporters,
I have not sent out any letters and updates lately for various reasons which I will soon explain. Many of you emailed or called after the recent massacre of five members of the Fogel family in Itamar. I have been hesitant to talk about the situation.
1-      I am not happy to inform you that the horrific attack in Itamar dealt a severe blow to the morale of many Jews in Israel, even among the heroic families who continue to live in Itamar and in other vulnerable Jewish towns. For the first time, I hear and see fear. This is something I did not want to write about and something that we should not make public so as not to deliver yet a greater victory to our enemies.
2-      I am very sad and frustrated that prior to the attack, Itamar’s security personnel had returned the service dogs that we placed there at great expense in the past. Clearly, trained patrol dogs could have helped detect the terrorists who remained in Itamar for three hours, after their point of penetration had been detected.

However, the facts need to be known. Unfortunately, it took this horrible news to wake up many people in Itamar and elsewhere. Our phones have been ringing off the hook, with frantic requests for guard dogs and patrol dogs ever since... The situation is far worse than the media is portraying in their slanted coverage. Arabs are infiltrating daily into dozens of Jewish towns in Judea and Samaria as well as in the Negev and in Northern Israel. Jewish property and flocks are being stolen throughout the land constantly, and the situation is getting worse by the hour as the Arabs have become more and more brazen.
In the words of Dr. Doni, a close friend and vet in the region: “It has been clear that if thieves can twice remove 5 horses and their equipment from Artis in Bet El, 30 sheep from within Tel Zion in Kochav Yaakov or a herd of cattle and goats from a hill in Itamar etc.. etc.. etc..., then when it suits them they can freely enter and murder Jews in their beds on a Friday night.   There is something gravely wrong with the security situation and the nature of agricultural theft is a reflection on the danger to human life.”
Immediately following the attack in Itamar, neighbors of the Fogels and others requested dogs. We immediately responded, purchasing more dogs and placing them in Itamar and other trouble spots. Let us not forget that the terrorists first entered into the home of the Chai family, made themselves coffee and rested before continuing on with their rampage. Thank G-d the Chai’s were not home for Shabbat. Unfortunately the Fogels were home and were stabbed to death in their sleep.
We laid out thousands of dollars over the past few weeks and we have been working round the clock to increase security in Itamar and elsewhere. The Chai’s now have a well-trained service dogs, and Rabbi david Chai is learning to be a patrol dog handler so that he can respond, should there be a warning of another penetration in the future.
Anyone who is in a position to help us by contributing funds, or by coming to Israel as a volunteer for an extended period, to learn how to be a patrol-dog handler and to patrol in places like Itamar, please contact me immediately. We need all of the help we can get in the field and in the back-office.
Funds can be sent to the Israel Canine Defense Fund, POBox 6592, Jerusalem Israel. Email toJewishlegion@aol.com or call me 0544876709 from U.S. 011972544876709

Best wishes for a great Pesach! May we merit this year in Jerusalem with peace, security and faith.

                                                        With Love of Israel,
