Los Angeles City Attorney office announced on Firday that it secured a three-year jail sentence against an individual found guilty for vandalizing a San Fernando Valley business with anti-Semitic graffiti on multiple occasions.
Defendant Amos Hason, 49, was convicted of three counts of vandalism and three counts of a hate crime against a Jewish business owner in the San Fernando Valley following a one-week jury trial. Hason was sentenced today to three years in jail.
“Hate crimes will not be tolerated in this city and my office will continue to take swift and decisive action whenever these incidents occur,” said City Attorney Mike Feuer.
The case against Hason involved multiple hate crime and vandalism incidents against the same victim. On two separate incidents in April 2014, video surveillance identified Hason driving to the location and painting swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti on the rear fence and dumpster behind a Van Nuys plumbing business.Among the anti-Semitic graffiti was the message, “Adolf was right. Kill Jews!” with a swastika at the end.
Hason was previously prosecuted twice by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. In 2013 he was convicted for possession of a zip gun and in 2008 was found guilty of possessing a deadly weapon with the intent to assault another.
