Israel’s Netanyahu Invited to Speak to Congress, Obama Furious He Wasn’t Asked for His Permission

On Wednesday it was revealed that Speaker of the House John Boehner (R, OH) invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak about Iran before a joint session Congress on Feb. 11. We also learned that Obama is furious that no one asked for his permission first.
Boehner’s move is being reported as a “dramatic confrontation” between the Speaker and Obama because Netanyahu is an opponent of many of Obama’s policies in the Middle East, especially his policies with Iran.
“Netanyahu’s speech could present a spectacle rarely seen in Washington, Politico reported, “the leader of another nation, standing just blocks from the White House at the invitation of Congress to rebut the United States’ foreign policy.”
And it is a fact that Boehner and Senate Majority leader Kentuckian Mitch McConnell–both Republicans–dealt directly with Netanyahu’s office without first consulting the White House.
However the White House criticized the invitation as a breach of the protocol for when world leaders visit the U.S.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said that usually leaders inform the White House before planning a trip to the U.S. He said the administration will decide a course of action after speaking with the Israelis about what Netanyahu will say in his address, the Associated Press reported.
Meanwhile, we have Obama’s surrogates going around saying that we shouldn’t be calling Islamist terrorists “radicals” or “extremists.” No wonder no one wants to bother talking to Obama about foreign policy matters. He’s a disaster on it all!
