The Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin provides lone soldiers with Shabbat meals, housing, furniture and social events.
Michael Levin was a lone soldier who moved to Israel after his high school graduation, and fell defending Israel in the Second Lebanon War in 2006. Michael was home visiting his family in Philadelphia when the war broke out, and immediately flew back to Israel to rejoin his unit.
Lone Soldiers do not have families in Israel to advise, feed and comfort them during what can be extremely difficult times. The Center provides lone soldiers with apartments, beds, kitchen ware, blankets, heaters, and other basic home appliances. On Jewish and national holidays the Center hosts meals and social events for large groups of lone soldiers. The Center hosts Shabbat meals for over 300 lone soldiers each month. The Center’s staff is also available 24 hours a day to help lone soldiers in need of help.
The Center provides lone soldiers with guidance and support before, during, and after their IDF service. The Center gives lone soldiers a place to call home.
