PA TV says wife beating without injury is acceptable; An official PA TV reporter advises male listeners the Quranic verse instructing men to “strike” their wives is not supposed to injure.

PMW Bulletins PA TV to men: When beating your wife, "carefully read the Quranic" guidelines

PA TV instructs viewers
who "use beatings and violence
 to solve marital problems"
to "obey" the Quran's "religious rules for beatings"

Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik

What might be considered a bad April Fool's Day joke in other parts of the world, was taught in earnest on official Palestinian Authority TV on April 1. A female PA TV reporter instructed those of PA TV's viewers "who use beatings and violence to solve their marital problems" to "carefully read" and "obey" the Quran's "religious rules for beatings":

Official PA TV reporter:"To those who use beatings and violence to solve their marital problems: Carefully read the Quranic verse again [Sura 4:34]. There are solutions before giving beatings. If you have to, there are religious rules for beatings that must be obeyed. Guys, the goal of the beatings is rebuke in a way that does not cause injury. You can even go ask someone about it."
[Official PA TV, Talk of the Land, April 1, 2017]

Although the reporter did remind viewers that "there are solutions before giving beatings," she didn't categorically reject violence against women. That this green light for violence was given in earnest, and did not constitute an April Fool's Day's prank, is clear from other similar instructions disseminated by religious authorities on PA TV that Palestinian Media Watch has exposed.

A mufti explained on PA TV how men should hit their wives, when the previous steps of "warning them" and "separating from them in bed" have not worked:

"Not hitting that will bring the police, and break her hand and cause bleeding, or hitting that makes the face ugly."

JEWISH PRESS: The Art of Wife Beating By: Yori Yanover

The Art of Wife Beating
It was fascinating to watch this discussion, between Kuwaiti Scholar Jassem Al-Mutawa, who seems like a sweetie—if you manage to look across the many cultural divides—and another scholar, on the merits of disciplining one’s spouse.
If we can overcome our essential disgust with the discussion of women as objects, it is interesting to see the huge differences between the two men in the discussion. Also – watch the collection of rods the moderator is displaying. It’s like a Golf set, each rod with its purpose.
Interesting comparison, too, between the statistics on wife beating in Muslim countries and in the West.

ISRAELYCOOL: In Case You Think Your In-Laws Are Bad Aussie Dave

A one-and-a-half-year old boy keeps calling for his mother, unaware that he will never she her again, and that his father’s family may be responsible for her death.
Nawal Fathi Tafish Qudieh, 25, lived with her family-in-law in the town of Khuza, east of Khan Younis. On Saturday she was allegedly beaten to death by her in-laws. She was seven months pregnant at the time, and the baby also died.
Nawal’s brother Ahmad says that his sister was humiliated, insulted, verbally abused and beaten by her mother-in-law and her husband’s family.
Nawal’s family even offered her a piece of land to build a house on and live in with her husband and family to get away from the abuse, but her husband refused to leave his family.
“Due to the problems she was exposed to, she was banned from entering the kitchen. She used to wait for her mother-in-law to leave the kitchen in order to be able to enter the kitchen,” Ahmad told Ma’an.
On the day of her murder she had entered the kitchen without making sure her mother-in-law had left the area, her brother said.
“Her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law began beating her on the head, abdomen and back. They did not feel sorry for her or even for the baby she carried in her womb for the seventh month.”
Her brother-in-law then began beating her with an iron pipe, with the family joining in until she lost consciousness, Ahmad said.
They dragged her body into the landing of the house and left her there until an ambulance arrived and tried to resuscitate her, but it was too late.
Both Nawal and her unborn baby died. Medics at Shifa hospital said that the cause of death was bleeding in her brain due to blunt force trauma.
Nawal’s family are in a state of shock following the murder, Ahmad said, with her mother unable to speak and regularly fainting.
“They killed my sister a million times over the past three years, and today they robbed the life of my sister and killed her son,” Nawal’s sister said.
The extended family of Nawal’s husband, the al-Najjar family, denounced the murder and have called for legal action to be taken against the murderers. The family have even hung banners in the street saying: “The al-Najjar family, in Palestine and abroad, denounces the crime against the Qudieh family.”
Police in Gaza have detained Nawal’s mother-in-law, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, and her husband is said to be in a state of hysteria following the murder.
I am sure Israel will somehow be blamed, either for imposing a “siege” leading to the frustration that caused the in-laws to go medieval on the woman, or, alternatively, for allowing iron pipes into Gaza.

Civil Trial Attorney Baruch C. Cohen's letter to the editor regarding the Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine's sanitizing Sharia abuses

Dear Editor:

The April 2013 edition of the Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine presented an article by Abbas Hadjian entitled: “The Children of Sharia” about how Islamic nations apply civil and Islamic legal traditions differently in matters of child custody and spousal support. The article gave credence and even reverence to Islamic Sharia law and read as if this was just an innocent comparative law course. The article said nothing about how Sharia is a savage and barbaric set of archaic laws that threaten American democratic rule of law.

Shariah Law punishes violators of Islamic law with stonings, executions, amputations, whipings and beatings. Sharia law allows “honor killings,” genital mutilation, pre-teen marriages, polygamy, and divorce & inheritance rules that undercut the standing of women (i.e, testimony from non-Muslims and even Muslim women is given less weight than that of Muslim men). The list of human rights abuses of Sharia go on and on.

How your excellent magazine could turn such a blind eye to such human rights atrocities and sanitize Sharia's abuses as a legitimate set of laws worth studying is beyond me.

Stoning Execution of Iranian Woman Delayed

Iran has not yet executed a woman who is imprisoned and awaiting death by stoning.

Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a 43-year-old widow and mother of two convicted of adultery, was also charged for allegedly conspiring in the death of her husband, but said she was subsequently acquitted of the murder.

“The man who actually killed my husband was identified and imprisoned, but he is not sentenced to death,” she observed in a conversation with The Guardian in August.

So far, a worldwide campaign to appeal to the Iranian government not to execute her as sentenced on November 3 has apparently been successful, at least temporarily.

British Foreign Minister William Hague, who called the sentence “barbaric,” warned in a news conference that the execution would “damage Iran in the eyes of the world. It will be much better not to proceed with it.”

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner had also appealed to his counterpart, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, who Koucher said told him “a verdict in the case… had not been reached by the Iranian legal authorities and that the information on her alleged execution did not correspond to reality.”

“She is currently enjoying full health and is at the Tabriz Prison,” reported the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Wednesday, which quoted the head of the province judiciary, Hojatoleslam Malek Azhdar Sharif. “Her case is being processed by the relevant judicial authorities of the province and is going through the due process,” he said.

After a confession obtained under torture, Ashtiani was lashed 99 times in the presence of her 17-year-old son. Her torturous prison term continued for four years, and she was subsequently sentenced to death by stoning.

Her son, Ghaderzadeh, and one of her lawyers, Hootan Kian, were both arrested last month and jailed. So were two German journalists who tried to interview them, according to Mina Ahadi, spokeswoman for the International Committee against Stoning. Ashtiani’s other former lawyer, Mohammad Mostafaei, fled Iran and taken refuge in Turkey, where he is being protected by diplomats after he reported that Iranian authorities tried to arrest him without cause.

According to CNN, the government has refused to allow Ghaderzadeh and Kian, to receive a lawyer, claiming that they don’t need one.

FP: Hezbollah's Boy Scouts Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was greeted upon his arrival in Beirut by a rapturous crowd. Thanassis Cambanis takes us inside the organization that teaches Lebanon's children to love the Islamic Revolution.

The 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah gave the world its clearest indication yet of the surprising strength of the "Party of God." Over more than a month of combat, Hezbollah was able to frustrate Israel's stated aims, allowing Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah to declare a "divine victory" after the conclusion of fighting. Thanassis Cambanis traveled to Lebanon to tell the stories of Hezbollah's supporters, and to understand the roots of the party's strength. In this excerpt from his newly-published book, "A Privilege to Die," Cambanis visits Hezbollah's youth movement in south Lebanon.

UAE Islamic Court: Beat Your Wife, Just Don’t Leave a Mark

A man has the right to discipline his wife and children provided he does not leave physical marks, the Federal Islamic Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi - the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - has ruled. The judgment was made in the case of a man who slapped and kicked his daughter and slapped his wife. The wife suffered injuries to her lower lip and teeth, and the daughter had bruises on her right hand and right knee. The court ruled that the bruises were evidence that the father had abused his shariah(Islamic law) right.

ISLAMIC (SHARIA) LAW: STONING VIDEO SURFACES FROM PAKISTAN **GRAPHIC WARNING** STONED TO DEATH

Imagine, one of the attendees of this stoning released the video. So just think about what we don't see. I saw this video first at ABC, but didn't run their video because it was irresponsibly edited, and because the accompanying narrative was so wrong, so patently false and deliberately misleading -- the commentary from Gayle Lemmon, an apologist from the Council of Foreign Relations (a tool for the stealth jihad), makes these pathetic excuses to ABC's Brian Ross, who nods cluelessly:
"It's difficult to know where and when it was shot," says Gayle Lemmon, deputy director of the Women and Foreign PolicyProgram at the Council of Foreign Relations, in an interview with Ross, "It is consistent with videos that have been coming from Taliban-controlled areas since the '90s."
Lemmon says that when women "stray outside the line" in Taliban-controlled areas, they may "face severe punishment."
"Women are respected as carriers of the family honor," says Lemmon, "but they also pay the price."...
It's the sharia, stupid. Check out the rest of the  idiocy over at ABC here.
WARNING: The video above is graphic, and beyond disturbing. It is footage of a woman dying under a barrage of stones. But it must be exposed:
This is Sharia. This is an act Muhammad approved of and participated in, according to canonical Islamic sources including Sahih ("sound," "reliable") Bukhari.
This is Islam's "justice," "compassion," and "mercy" which apologists will not repudiate, attempting to dodge the issue by assuring the uninformed (and maybe even trying to make themselves believe) that it is not an issue because it is not prescribed in the Qur'an itself. Click here for why that does not make a difference to the Muslims who have continued the practice over the centuries.
And what was this woman's crime? Here is the back story. "Rare Video Shows Taliban Allegedly Stoning Woman to Death in Pakistan," by Megan Chuchmach for ABC News, September 24:
A rare video reportedly smuggled out of northwest Pakistan allegedly shows a woman being stoned to death by Taliban militants in the upper region of Orakzai. Al Aan, a Dubai-based pan-Arabtelevision channel that focuses on women's issues, said it had obtained cellphone footage that it says shows a woman being executed because she was seen out with a man. The killing reportedly took place two months ago and was smuggled out by a Taliban member who attended the stoning, according to Al Aan. ABC News could not independently confirm the cellphone video's authenticity. The video, which seems to show a woman tethered to the ground as a group of men throw stones at her, is so graphic that ABC News cannot show it in its entirety. Parts of it air today on the 25th episode of "Brian Ross Investigates."
Gee, what a great system: be "honored" or be killed!
The ABC link has its own video, including a mostly dismal interview with Lemmon, who hedges on whether this has anything to do with Islam.
But we know better.
