No “Buyer’s Remorse” For Voting For Obama By: Alan M. Dershowitz

Republicans are trying to woo away Jews who voted for Barack Obama in 2008, hoping they have experienced “buyer’s remorse.” I, for one, have experienced no such remorse. I have gotten from President Obama pretty much what I expected when I voted for him: a pragmatic, centrist liberal who has managed—with some necessary compromises—to bring us the first important healthcare legislation in recent history, appointed excellent justices to the Supreme Court, supported women’s rights, eliminated the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” policy, maintained the wall of separation between church and state, kept up an effective war against terrorism and generally made me proud to be an American who cast my vote for him.
Even with regard to his policy toward Israel, which has generated much of the impetus for this “buyer’s remorse” campaign, President Obama has kept his promises. During the last campaign, I and others urged candidate Obama to go to Israel and visit Sderot, which was being shelled by rockets from Hamas-controlled Gaza. He then went to Sderot and while standing in front of the lethal rockets that had inflicted so much damage—physical and psychological—to so many children and adults, this is what the candidate said:
“I don’t think any country would find it acceptable to have missiles raining down on the heads of their citizens. The first job of any nation state is to protect its citizens…If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep at night, I’m going to do everything in my power to stop that. And I would expect Israelis to do the same.”
And when the Israeli Defense Forces finally had to respond to the rocket terror with Operation Cast Lead, President Obama supported Israel’s actions and his administration condemned the Goldstone Report as deeply flawed and biased against Israel.
Now, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is visiting Israel. I’m glad he is, because support for Israel must always remain bipartisan. No presidential election should ever become a referendum on support for Israel. Certainly the upcoming election will not be, because both candidates strongly support Israel’s security. Each candidate must earn the vote of each citizen based on the totality of their records, and must not take the support of any group for granted.
The Obama Administration has worked hand in hand with Israel in developing the Iron Dome, David’s Sling and Arrow Defense capabilities. It has approved the sale of F-35 stealth fighters to the Israeli Air Force. It has conducted large, joint military exercises and has coordinated intelligence operations with Israeli secret services. That is why I was not surprised when Israel’s Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that he could:
“hardly remember a better period of…American support and cooperation and similar strategic understanding…than what he have right now.”
The greatest threat Israel faces today is from Iran, a nation ruled by anti-Semitic, Holocaust-denying, terrorist-inciting Mullahs, who would sacrifice millions of their own citizens to destroy “the little Satan,” which is how they refer to Israel (the United States being “the big Satan.”) There are some, in both parties, who wrongly believe that a policy of “containment”—that is, allowing Iran to develop nuclear weapons but containing their use by the threat of tit-for-tat reprisal—is the right strategy. President Obama has explicitly rejected this benighted approach and has instead announced that his policy is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, even if it takes military actions to do so. In the meantime, he has ratcheted up sanctions and diplomatic pressure while explicitly keeping the military option on the table.
Several months ago, President Obama invited me to the Oval Office to discuss his Iran strategy. He looked me in the eye and said, “I don’t bluff.” His actions with regard to Osama bin Laden and the Somali pirates who endangered Americans and threatened to kill them demonstrated his willingness to use force when warranted. So does his increased use of drones to target terrorists who are beyond the reach of capture. I believe President Obama when he says that Iran will not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons on his watch.
President Obama also understands that no sovereign nation can ever outsource the protection of its own citizens against a nuclear Holocaust. If Israel were to decide—as a last resort, after exhausting all diplomatic, economic, and intelligence options—that it had no choice but to take military action against Iran’s nuclear programs, I am confident that the Obama Administration would not condemn that action (as the Reagan Administration condemned Israel’s correct decision to destroy Iraq’s nuclear reactor in 1981!) These are President Obama’s own words on this important issue:
Iran’s leaders should have no doubt about the resolve of the United States – just as they should not doubt Israel’s sovereign right to make its own decisions about what is required to meet its security needs.
The issue of Israeli security must be distinguished from the issue of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank. Israel’s settlement policy is deeply controversial within Israel and among Jewish supporters of Israel in the United States. Both Republican and Democratic administrations have been critical of some Israeli decisions regarding the settlements. I have sometimes agreed and sometimes disagreed with these criticisms. Reasonable supporters of Israel will have different views on the settlements and on how best to move toward a two-state solution that assures Israel’s security.
When I decide who to vote for as President, I ask myself who will be best for America and for the world. An important component of my answer involves my assessment of the candidate’s willingness and ability to protect Israel’s security, since I strongly believe that a strong Israel serves the interests of the United States and of world peace. I am confident that President Obama will keep his promise “always [to] have Israel’s back” in the face of the continuing threats posed by Israel’s enemies.

O’S ISRAEL BASHER BUNDLER SAN FRANCISCO CITY EMPLOYEE HALA HIJAZI HAS RECORD OF HIGHLY CHARGED PRESS ATTACKS ON THE JEWISH STATE—AND HAS BUNDLED BETWEEN $100,000 TO $200,000 FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA’S REELECTION CAMPAIGN

Team Obama includes a self-identified “Muslim Palestinian-American” campaign fundraiser who has a history of blasting Israel in highly charged letters and newspaper articles about the Middle East conflict.
Hala Hijazi, a Jordanian native and current San Francisco city employee, has personally secured between $100,000 to $200,000 for Obama’s reelection effort, according to Federal Election Committee filings.
She also has gone on record accusing Israel of war crimes while castigating America for providing the Jewish state critical military aid—a long-term investment that hasbolstered U.S. security interests.
Hijazi, who has cultivated pristine left-wing credentials during her government career, is another name on an ever lengthening list of Obama-affiliated donors and bundlers who are either entangled in legal woes or hail from controversial backgrounds.
A prominent Hillary Clinton supporter who has long been entrenched in San Francisco’s left-wing political machine, Hijazi appears to be tapping a list of high profile West Coast liberals in an attempt to replenish the president’s campaign coffers.
Her public writings on Israel—an issue that has plagued Obama since the start of his presidency—reveal a longstanding and deep-seated hostility towards the Jewish state.
“As Americans we cannot allow the humanitarian crisis in Gaza to continue,” Hijaziwrote in a 2009 letter to the New York Times as rockets rained down on Israel from the Gaza Strip, provoking the Israelis to respond in self-defense. “The death of children and mothers and the Gaza blockade lack any moral justification and humanity.”
Hijazi went on to lament the U.S.-Israel military alliance and accuse Israel of destroying Muslim holy places.
“As God-fearing Americans, we cannot sit still and continue being silent when our taxpayer dollars are financing a war that is causing the death of innocent civilians and is destroying places of worship and education,” said Hijazi, who identified herself as “a Muslim Palestinian-American.”
American support for Israel is perverting the country’s collective morality, Hijazi claimed.
“We are citizens of a morally just country who believe in those rights; and once we Americans accept the loss of those rights for anyone, we risk losing them for ourselves,” wrote Hijazi, who currently serves as a project manager in the San Francisco City Attorney’s office. “We cannot allow the world to believe that we do not value life.”
Hijazi also alleged that Israel’s leaders wantonly kill Palestinian children in a 2001 San Francisco Chronicle article.
The election of Israeli military hero Ariel Sharon as prime minister “is a sad day in Palestine and all over the Mideast,” Hijazi told the paper.
“There is no peace,” she claimed, adding that Sharon’s “version of peace is security for Israel, and for him one death of an Israeli solider equals a thousand Palestinian children.”
As former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown’s “Palestinian campaign assistant” in 1999, Hijazi brought the mayor to an Arab cultural center to bolster his support in the minority community.
During the reception, attendees convinced Brown to express interest in having Beirut serve as San Francisco’s official “Sister City.” Hijazi also helped recruit Arab volunteers “from the audience to walk districts of the city in order to increase voter turnout,” according to a dispatch in the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs.
One GOP operative blasted team Obama’s fundraising arm for what he described as its shameless associations with a cast of unsavory characters—among them Hijazi and a Persian-Jewish donor who stands accused of running a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme.
“This has the potential to make the Obama Super-PAC completely toxic to voters—not just Jews and supporters of Israel, but your everyday swing voter that has no warm and fuzzy feelings about radical Islamists and terrorism,” said the senior GOP communications aide, who closely tracks campaign donations. “Every time you see an Obama Super-PAC ad, you’ll have to think of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Americans blown up in Jerusalem pizza parlors.”
The aide recommended that Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod “disavow this woman as soon as possible.”
Hijazi is closely tied to San Francisco’s vast network of entrenched Democratic political figures.
“She’s clearly part of the machine,” said Stephen Schwartz, an author and former San Francisco Chronicle reporter. “It’s the radical left and she’s at the heart of it.”
Hijazi has positioned herself as “a representative of Arab interests in the San Francisco political machine,” and her views are “representative in the Bay Area of politically correct attitudes about the Middle East,” Schwartz added.
Hijazi’s status as an Obama bundler, Schwartz said, “is definitely a reflection of the support that the San Francisco machine gives to the national leadership group in the Democratic Party.”

Four questions for the Obama seder

President Obama will be holding a Passover seder again on Friday night, and an email that has been making the rounds suggests these four questions:
For Friday night's Obama White House seder, we hear there's talk of an alternate version of the traditional four questions:

Introductory Question
Mr. President, why is this administration different from all other administrations?

First Question
Why is it that all other administrations acknowledge Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, but this administration refuses to say Jerusalem is even located in Israel?

Second Question
Why is it that all other administrations try to be friendly to the democratically elected prime minister of Israel, but this administration is bitter towards him?

Third Question
Why is it that all other administrations try not to pick fights with Israel even once, but this administration picks fights with Israel more than twice?

Fourth Question
Why is it that in other administrations the president visits both Muslim and Jewish states, but this administration visits only Muslim states?

Daylight: The Story of Obama and Israel

One day before the AIPAC conference kicks off in Washington, an anti-Obama pro-Israel group is widening its criticism of President Barack Obama's record on Israel -- while the White House defends its treatment of the relationship.
The trailer for a new 30-minute video, entitled "Daylight: The Story of Obama and Israel," cuts together clips of Obama quotes and outside commentary to put forth the narrative that Obama has made statements and taken actions as president that have put him out of step with the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his supporters.
(UPDATE: Now you can watch the entire 30 minute video here.)
"We believe that that the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines," Obama is shown saying, a reference to his May, 2011 speech, where he for the first time explicitly defined U.S. policy as supporting the 1967 borders with agreed swaps as the basis for Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations.
"He didn't quite have a full grasp of what the full region looks like," conservative journalist Lee Smith is shown saying in the video. "This is not how you treat an ally."
The ad goes beyond the Israeli issue to suggest that the president is too solicitous of Muslim concerns. The end of the trailer shows Obama saying, "I want to make sure we end before the call to prayer," a clip from his town hall meeting with Turkish students in Istanbul in April 2009.
The video was produced by the group the Emergency Committee for Israel, which has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on its pre-AIPAC publicity campaign, including posters and billboards all over Washington that question Obama's commitment to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
"He says a nuclear Iran is unacceptable. Do you believe him?" the posters read. Then, next to a picture of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini and President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, it says, "Do they?"
ECI is run by executive director Noah Pollak and Michael Goldfarb, a former McCain-Palin staffer now working at the consulting firm Orion Strategies and as chairman of the board of theWashington Free Beacon, an new conservative website.
"Obama says a nuclear Iran is unacceptable," Pollak told The Cable today. "We hope he means what he says, but the recent statements from his administration, his contentious relationship with the Israeli government, and his consistent efforts to weaken congressional sanctions don't inspire confidence."
The ECI board is comprised of Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol, Gary Bauer, who has endorsed Rick Santorum, and Rachel Abrams, the wife of former NSC official Elliott Abrams, and the author of the controversial Israel-focused blog "Bad Rachel." The group is also the only Israel-focused advocacy organization to have formed a SuperPAC in the run up to the 2012 election.
As part of its pre-AIPAC activity, ECI took out a full page ad in the New York Times yesterday calling out donors for supporting two liberal advocacy organizations in Washington, the Center for American Progress and Media Matters, and accusing those donors of "funding bigotry and anti-Israel extremism."
Pollak also said that the video, billboards, and ads happen to refute a pre-AIPAC interviewObama gave to The Atlantic, in which Obama expressed frustration with the attacks coming from conservative lawmakers and groups like ECI that claim he is not pro-Israel.
"Every single commitment I have made to the state of Israel and its security, I have kept," Obama said. "Why is it that despite me never failing to support Israel on every single problem that they've had over the last three years, that there are still questions about that?"
"Obama said today he doesn't understand why there are questions about his record of support for Israel," Pollak said. "We think this movie will set the record straight, and remind pro-Israel Americans of the facts of this administration's failure to stand with Israel at some critical moments."

Why do Jews still vote Obama?

A remarkable video narrated by Carl Gallups explaining why Jews still Vote Obama, despite the fact that he is the most anti-Israel President in history. He bows to the King of Saudi Arabia, he snubs Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in the White House, and he's never even visited Israel!

Executive Producer, political analyst and author David Rubin, an American-Israeli and the former Mayor of Shiloh, Israel demystifies the baffling bent of Jews to keep voting themselves into potential oblivion.

David has been interviewed often by perplexed conservative talk show hosts and has written extensively about this president's relationship with Israel. Rubin explains that the recurring question of American Jewish support for Obama has become the question that he can no longer avoid.

Is President Obama really hostile to Israel? If he is, why does he still have massive Jewish support? David answers these questions and more in this "must see" video. David Rubin also covers this and more in his book, "The Islamic Tsunami: Israel and America in the Age of Obama."

High level diplomacy in action as Obama and Sarkozy agree they both really hate Netanyahu.

SERAPHIC SECRET: Obama Cozy With Another Jew-Hater

Here we go again.
Has Barack Obama ever met a Jew-hater he has not admired?
Obama kicked off his political career in the home of American terrorists Bill Ayres and Bernardine Dorn, leftists Jew-haters who, most recently, have added their venom to the various flotillas to Gaza. Obama’s 20-year discipleship to the rascist, Jew-hating Jeremiah Wright should have disqualified Obama from public office, but because he’s black—sorta—he got a pass from guilty white liberals and dopey liberal Jews.  There was the Jew-hating Catholic priest Michael L. Pfleger, PLO terrorist spokesman Rashid Khalidi, and Obama’s various love letters to the genocidal yearning Muslim world. Naturally, Obama voiced support for the OWS movement which is a petri dish for leftist anti-Semitism.
Recently, Obama and Sarkozy agreed they hated Bibi Netanyahu. It’s always nice when boys act like bitchy schoolgirls and pick a fight with a designated target.
Obama’s latest crush is Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, an Islamist who has made the centerpiece of his policies a blunt and vulgar Jew-hatred that aligns perfectly with Hamas and Hizbullah.
The mighty Barry Rubin explains why Obama’s latest BFF signals serious trouble for Israel, America, and the free world.

Obama joins the chorus

If Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were to ask a fair-minded, balanced, sensible adviser what he could realistically do to win the confidence and approbation of U.S. President Barack Obama, the answer would have to be “nothing.”
Two examples prove the point.
In May, Netanyahu moved the Likud party considerably to the center in his speech to the opening of the summer session of the Knesset. In that speech he discussed relations with the Palestinians and called for a “long-term IDF presence along the Jordan River,” and said, “We agree that we must maintain the settlement blocs.” In other words, he was saying that the Israeli presence along the Jordan would be that of soldiers only, not settlers, and that it would in any event not be permanent; and he was saying that only the settlement blocs, not all settlements no matter how small and isolated, would remain with Israel.
The Obama administration’s reaction to these important statements was, well, nothing. Zero. It did not commend them or even acknowledge that they were important. It was so certain in its view of Netanyahu as a recalcitrant right-winger that it did not even pay attention to what he was saying.
This week, Netanyahu has started to move on the issue of “outposts,” small and unauthorized encampments in the West Bank. Former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon repeatedly promised former U.S. President George W. Bush that he would act to remove them -- and repeatedly failed (as did former Prime Mnister Ehud Olmert). At some political cost, Netanyahu plans now to act.
The Wall Street Journal explained it this way: “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signaled he plans to dismantle some unauthorized Jewish dwellings in the West Bank, setting up potential clashes with extremist settlers and the hardliners in his government who back them. Such a move could mark the largest evacuation of settlers since the 2005 Gaza withdrawal, and could boost Netanyahu’s credibility among mainstream Israelis as well as abroad.”
Well, apparently not “abroad.” No sooner does Netanyahu take this courageous step than he is denounced by Obama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, in a private conversation that has now been revealed. According to press reports, Sarkozy told Obama, “Netanyahu, I can’t stand him. He’s a liar.” Obama did not object to the characterization, and responded: “You are sick of him, but I have to work with him every day.”
So we return to what our wise adviser might tell Netanyahu. In the very week that he moves on outposts -- something Sharon and Olmert completely failed to do -- he is called names by the French, and the insults are apparently accepted and approved by the Americans. The advice to Bibi would have to be: Forget it. Forget the possibility that Obama will ever treat you fairly. Forget the idea that he will give you a fair shake or pay attention to what you are actually doing.
If this were only a matter of personal relations between Obama and Netanyahu, it could be left at that. But this is far more consequential, for with this comment -- and especially as it was made in private and can be interpreted as his actual view -- Obama has joined the chorus of assaults on the Jewish state. The U.S. only has one president at a time and Israel only has one prime minister. To treat the prime minister of Israel in this way is disgraceful.

Did you hear what Obama told Sarkozy?

Just yesterday French President Sarkozy was heard saying to Barack Obama: "I cannot bear Netanyahu, he's a liar."

Obama retorted in response: "You're fed up? But I have to deal with it all day."

This is Obama's "reset" foreign policy. Appease America's enemies in the Middle East while sticking it to America's sole ally in the region.

Obama has done a very poor job of hiding his disdain for the State of Israel and her Prime Minister, who are on the frontline of the war against the fascist enemies of the West. The antagonism our President feels toward Israel is self-evident and disgraceful. From his call for Israel to reward aggression and retreat to the "67 lines" which would make its borders indefensible to the contempt he has shown for Netanyahu to his attack on Jewish homes in Jerusalem and his embrace of anti-Semitic leaders like Turkey's Erdogan, Obama has shown that he is unfit to be the leader of the free world, and a danger not only to Israel's survival but to our own.

Please tell me, I'm dreaming........

The tuches lickers at the Forward have named BarackHussein Obama one of the top 50 'Jews' of 2011.
Support him, loathe him or feel wildly ambivalent — whatever you think of Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States has done more than any other non-Jew we can think of to shape the American Jewish story in 2011. Obama, 50, rode a near-tidal wave of Jewish support toward his historic win in 2008, and quickly appointed two Jews to sit in the offices closest to his in the White House.

But his frosty relations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu soured some in the Jewish establishment and emboldened Republicans eager to chip away at Jewish voters’ stubborn loyalty to liberal politics. Sensing an opening, most of the other GOP candidates for president seem to share Mitt Romney’s assessment that Obama has thrown Israel “under the bus.” But while such sentiment was making inroads among some American Jews, the president’s vocal opposition to a unilateral declaration of Palestinian statehood and his administration’s unprecedented military support for Israel prompted New York Magazine to call him “the best friend Israel has right now.”
Please.... Although admittedly Obama is probably no less Jewish than some of the Forward's other choices (I have not gone through the list).
