Remember When Susan Rice Said Obama Purged Syria of Chemical Weapons? Yep, she lied about that, too.

President Obama’s former national security adviser, Susan Rice, was busy covering up a lot of things during her time in the Obama administration. She blamed the Benghazi attack on a YouTube video, she lied about spying on the Trump transition team, and she said Obama purged chemical weapons from Syria.
Tell that to the dozens of children who died in the recent sarin gas attack on Tuesday. The images of them suffering and struggling for breath pushed the U.S. to action. President Trump ordered a missile strike on an airfield believed to be a storage facility for Syria President Bashar al-Assad’s chemical weapons.
So, if sarin gas was deployed in Syria, why did Rice say this in January:
“We were able to find a solution that didn’t necessitate the use of force that actually removed the chemical weapons that were known from Syria, in a way that the use of force would never have accomplished. Our aim in contemplating the use of force following the use of chemical weapons in August of 2013 was not to intervene in the civil war, not to become involved in the combat between Assad and the opposition, but to deal with the threat of chemical weapons by virtue of the diplomacy that we did with Russia and with the Security Council. We were able to get the Syrian government to voluntarily and verifiably give up its chemical weapons stockpile.”
Riiiight.
Former Secretary of State John Kerry said the same thing in 2014 during an appearance on Meet the Press.
“We struck a deal where we got 100 percent of the chemical weapons out,” Kerry said.
100%?
President Obama, too, was confident the 2013 mission was successful:
“The most lethal declared chemical weapons possessed by the Syrian regime were destroyed by dedicated U.S. civilian and military professionals.”
These are all verifiable lies, courtesy of the Obama administration.

ISRAEL MATZAV: Flashback: Nancy Pelosi leads Dem delegation to Syria over Bush objections

We haven't heard a lot from Nancy Pelosi on Syria. Maybe this has something to do with why (original source here).
Ms. Pelosi was criticized by President Bush for visiting Damascus at a time when the administration -- rightly or wrongly -- has frozen high-level contacts with Syria. Mr. Bush said that thanks to the speaker's freelancing Mr. Assad was getting mixed messages from the United States. Ms. Pelosi responded by pointing out that Republican congressmen had visited Syria without drawing presidential censure. That's true enough -- but those other congressmen didn't try to introduce a new U.S. diplomatic initiative in the Middle East. "We came in friendship, hope, and determined that the road to Damascus is a road to peace," Ms. Pelosi grandly declared.

Never mind that that statement is ludicrous: As any diplomat with knowledge of the region could have told Ms. Pelosi, Mr. Assad is a corrupt thug whose overriding priority at the moment is not peace with Israel but heading off U.N. charges that he orchestrated the murder of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri. The really striking development here is the attempt by a Democratic congressional leader to substitute her own foreign policy for that of a sitting Republican president. Two weeks ago Ms. Pelosi rammed legislation through the House of Representatives that would strip Mr. Bush of his authority as commander in chief to manage troop movements in Iraq. Now she is attempting to introduce a new Middle East policy that directly conflicts with that of the president. We have found much to criticize in Mr. Bush's military strategy and regional diplomacy. But Ms. Pelosi's attempt to establish a shadow presidency is not only counterproductive, it is foolish.
At the time, Pelosi accomplished her goal of rehabilitating Assad. A month later, President Bush's own secretary of state met with Syrian foreign minister Walid Moallem on the sidelines of a conference in Sharm-el-Sheikh. Pelosi played a major role in ending Syria's isolation.

Isn't it strange that she doesn't seem so proud of that anymore?

ISRAEL MATZAV: Caroline Glick: Obama is turning the United States into a global laughing stock

Caroline Glick appeared on Washington's WMAL radio on Monday to discuss President Obama's decision to punt the decision to attack Syria to Congress.  This interview is devastating. Let's go to the videotape (Hat Tip: Jack W via Pat Dollard).

Defected Syrian general confirms chemical weapons use, says Iran helping weaponize them

Al Arabiya in English reports:
The Syrian government ordered the use chemical weapons against the Free Syrian Army (FSA) during select battles with Syrian regime forces, a defected general told Al Arabiya late Saturday.

A former army general from the chemical weapons branch, Zahir al-Sakit, said he was instructed to use chemical weapons during a regime battle with the FSA in the southwestern area of Hauran.

But instead, Sakit disobeyed the orders and swapped the chemicals with disinfectant water he called “Javel water.”

“I was given orders to execute the use of poisonous chemicals in caves and tunnels that are used by the Free Syrian Army, but I mixed all chemicals with water and used Javel water instead,” Sakit said.

According to Sakit, prior to his defection, no chemical weapons were used on his watch in battles against the FSA.

“I assure you that I ordered all chemical weapons to be buried and I can point out the exact locations of those chemicals,” Sakit added.
His actual interview in Arabic, however, also says that he knows specifically where and when chemical weapons have been used by Syria:

Following are excerpts from an interview with Syrian army defector Brigadier-general Zaher Al-Saket, former head of chemical warfare in the 5th division, which aired on Al-Arabiya TV on April 27, 2013:

Zaker Al-Saket: There are three types of chemical weapons: harassing chemical agents, incapacitating agents, and lethal agents. When the demonstrations started, the regime used harassing agents, like any country in the world using tear gas to disperse demonstrations. As for incapacitating and lethal chemical agents - the regime used incapacitating agents at first, but when the world remained silent about this, and the regime thought that the international community did not care, it used lethal [chemical] weapons in more than 13 locations. The last incident was in Utaybah. The regime used sarin gas on three occasions, and I am increasingly afraid that they will use agents more powerful than sarin. They have VX gas and mustard gas, also known as iprit.
[…]
The regime's accusation that the opposition has used chemical weapons is the most compelling proof that the regime itself has used them, because the opposition does not have the means to use chemical weapons. The means of using chemical weapons are known to the whole world: airplanes, missiles, helicopters, and artillery. Worst still, this regime has binary chemical weapons. The world must understand that there are binary chemical weapons in Syria, and [Bashar Al-Assad] will use them against his people, because he is the Nero of our age.

Binary chemical weapons consist of two non-toxic agents, which are placed in incubators that are loaded onto artillery shells. Then, the shells are launched, and when the two agents mix, a toxic substance is formed.
[…]
[Al Assad] has a complete arsenal of chemical weapons. Some came from the former USSR, and some are being manufactured right now.
[…]
Iranian experts are working with Syrian officers in the Mazzeh military airport. They manufacture incubators for the toxic substances, which will be loaded onto warheads carried by airplanes. When these warheads hit the ground, they release a toxic cloud.
[…]
I was given an order to use these substances, but I replaced them with liquid bleach. This was the reason for my defection from Al-Assad's army.
[…]
In the Amoud Horan battle in Busra Al-Harir, I was given an order to launch toxic agents into the trenches and caves to which the F.S.A. was heading. But, Allah be praised, I replaced this substance with liquid bleach, which I diluted with water and launched into the trenches.
[…]
I buried these substances with my own hands, so my commander would not find out and send me to prison.
[…]
In Utaybah, near the Damascus international airport, the regime used sarin gas three times, because it is close to the airport. The next time chemical weapons were used was in Khan Al-Assal. First, they used incapacitating agents, and then they used lethal agents, because the F.S.A. forces had managed to reach the military academy, which is the main regime stronghold.
[…]
The chemical weapons are kept in heavily fortified places in the mountains. I know exactly where they are.
[…]
The U.S. can seize control of these weapons right now, but if I reveal their location in the media, they will vanish immediately.
[…]
The chemical weapons are kept in several places: In Aleppo, in the Hama region, in Damascus, and in Latakia. The chemical weapons are there.
Many media outlets reported the sanitized Al Arabiya version, but none seem to have noticed that the full interview was more damning.

PMW: Syrian MP threatening using biological, chemical weapons

Following are excerpts from several TV interviews with Syrian MPs and Lebanese sympathizers, which aired on various TV channels in July 2012.
Al-Manar TV, July 20, 2012:
Syrian MP Ahmad Shlash, deputy chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee: These biological and chemical weapons are intended for a confrontation with the country's enemies.
As for those terrorist groups, the defenders of the land can get rid of them...
Interviewer: Yesterday, Ehud Barak toured the area...
Ahmad Shlash: Let him tour it. He wants to see where he will be buried if he tries to...
He's wondering what hole will be dug for him...
Let me tell you something. I cannot tell a lie. We have biological weapons. What's the problem? We have advanced weapons. Why lie to the people? We have them. That is what's known as the balance of power. You have nuclear weapons, and we have advanced biological weapons.
We counter might with might, but we're keeping this for the end. If you consider using nuclear weapons, we will use something equivalent, or something that causes similar damage.
Nasrallah said that Syria has drastically changed its [military] systems. Syria no longer relies upon artillery, tanks, and airplanes. Syria relies upon missiles. We have all types of missiles. All types of missiles!
Let them bear in mind and take into consideration that Syria has both chemical and biological weapons.
[...]
I would like to convey a message to my beloved Syrian president. Honorable President, enough with the leniency and the tolerance. Enough giving one respite after another. I am against the principle of tolerance. If you want to be tolerant toward someone – save it for later. This is the time to finish it off militarily – throughout the country. For the sake of Allah, oh President, the people want you to finish it off.
Al-Manar TV, July 23, 2012:
Interviewer: We are talking about unconventional weapons. Today, Syrian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Jihad al-Maqdisi said: "We will use these weapons in the event of a foreign attack."
Syrian MP Sharif Shehadeh: So, what's wrong with that?
Interviewer: You're taking precautions for any attack on you?
Sharif Shehadeh: I don't know, but if the Syrian government has weapons of that type – of course they will use them against any attacker. What should we do with them? Make tabouleh or fattoush salads? Of course we will use them against of attackers. That's only natural. When Israel was waging war against Syria and Lebanon, they used cluster bombs, which are banned internationally. Why is Israel allowed to do this while the Arabs must accept being tramped underfoot on a daily basis? Let me tell you, the Syrian public is hoping for a war. The Syrian public is hoping that we will wage a war. Either [they win, or we do].
[...]
Al-Dunya TV, July 24, 2012:
Syrian MP 'Issam Khalil: I'd like to say to those [Israelis]: The missiles of Hizbullah, which defeated you in the 2006 war, were nothing more than extremely simple fireworks compared with the firepower that Syria has in stock, which could burn you to ashes. This is well known. I'm not revealing any secret. The range [of our missiles] far exceeds what you believe. Indeed, Syria possesses weaponry, as is its right, because its facing the danger of the Zionist enemy.
NBN TV, July 10, 2012:
Hizbullah MP Brig.-Gen. [ret.] Walid Sakariya: The coalition between Syria, Iraq, and Iran builds up a power superior to Israel, even without nuclear weapons. They can annihilate Israel in a war, even if it costs them a million martyrs. We should not consider the figure of one million martyrs to be catastrophic. By no means. The USSR sacrificed 26 million martyrs in WWII, yet it became a world superpower. France and Germany suffered 6-7 million casualties in the war. We have a total population of 130 million in these three countries
If 5,000 martyrs are sacrificed out of everyone one million people...
It's like in the 2006 war – this is a price that we can cope with. Even 10,000 martyrs per million... You could easily afford a million martyrs.
Interviewer: Now we are over-simplifying things...
Walid Sakariya: It's true. People need to know this, rather than delude themselves that 100 martyrs is such a big deal. It’s not the end of the world. The living nations are the ones that are prepared to sacrifice blood for the sake of their freedom. Those that are not willing to pay for freedom with their blood will remain subjugated and will live the life of a slave.
Al-Mayadeen TV, July 24, 2012:
General Mustafa Hamdan, Former Head of Lebanese Presidential Guard: If foreign soldiers or forces try to enter Syria, there will be an all-out war – not only with chemical weapons, but with biological weapons as well. DavutoÄŸlu Effendi also declared: We may participate in an operation within Syria. They deployed some surface-to-air missiles, in an attempt to raise the morale of the saboteurs in Syria. The Syrian reaction was quick: Any attempt of foreign intervention will lead to an all-out war, in which all types of weapons will be used, including chemical and biological.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu w/ Chris Wallace (FULL INTERVIEW) - Fox News Sunday

Appearing with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, Prime Minister Netanyahu talks about:

1. The Colorado movie theater massacre (note the irony in him saying how America has always stood behind Israel when it was attacked by terrorists in light of Obama and Clinton excluding Israel from the counterterrorism forum).

2. Syria, and especially its weapons of mass destruction, and whether Israel will have to deal with the problem.

3. The terror bombing in Bulgaria, for which Netanyahu blames Hezbullah and Iran.

4. Iranian terror attacks over the last two years.

5. Iran's nuclear program.

6. Mitt Romney (about whom he avoided talking).

7. Arab Spring.

This is a very comprehensive interview for 15 minutes. It's worth your time to watch.

Syria Warns It May Use Chemical Weapons on ‘Foreign’ Forces Syria has admitted it has chemical weapons and in what might have been a veiled threat against Israel, said it will use them if attacked.

Syria has admitted it has chemical weapons and in what might have been a veiled threat against Israel, said it will use them if attacked.
The regime promised it would not engage in chemical warfare against rebels, who by all accounts except for that of the government are pushing President Bashar Assad out of power.
Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi “assured” the world that it has secured chemical weapons, which it previously has not admitted to be in its possession but never would be used "inside Syria."
"No chemical or biological weapons will ever be used, and I repeat, will never be used, during the crisis in Syria, no matter what the developments inside Syria," he said on state television. "All of these types of weapons are in storage and under security and the direct supervision of the Syrian armed forces and will never be used unless Syria is exposed to external aggression."
Israel is concerned that the chemical weapons will fall into the hands of Hizbullah, and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu declared Sunday his government will “have to act” if Assad’s regime collapses, leaving Hizbullah with the possibility of taking over his military arsenal. Assad already is suspected of having smuggled some of the chemical weapons into Lebanon for Hizbullah to stockpile.
Prime Minister Netanyahu told Fox News Sunday said that “there are other possibilities” than crossing the Syrian border in order to deal with Assad’s chemical weapons.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak was ore blunt and stated on Israeli television last Friday, “I’ve ordered the Israeli military to prepare for a situation where we would have to weigh the possibility of carrying out an attack” against Syria’s arsenal, which is believed to include mustard gas and nerve agents that can reach Israel via Scud missiles.
Syria never signed the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention.
Despite the Syrian Foreign Ministry’s vow not to use chemical weapons against the opposition, U.S. Senator John McCain does not trust the regime.
"These are helicopter gunships, tanks, artillery that are slaughtering people, and now there is a risk -- and I'm not saying it is going to happen -- a risk that in his desperation, Bashar al-Assad might use those chemical weapons," McCain said on CNN.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters traveling with President Barack Obama on Air Force One, "We believe that Syria's chemical weapons remain under Syrian government control. But given the escalation in violence, and the regime's increasing attacks on its own people, we remain very concerned about these weapons."
