Presentation of Photojournalism Behind the Scenes, an auto-critical photo essay showing the paradoxes of conflict-image production and considering the role of the photographer in the events.

This project was awarded the Photodreaming Contest organized by Forma Foundation in which I was then selected by Denis Curti, the director of Contrasto (the major photo-agency in Italy, which represents Magnum's work in the country and for which the top Italian photographers work) to shoot an assignment for the prestigious agency.

There is no doubt that a great number of so-called "journalists" in Gaza are simply shills for Hamas, ready to jump and photograph anything Hamas asks and happy to avoid all areas that Hamas tells them to stay away from (a very common occurrence, especially after "unexplained" explosions.)

Elder of Ziyon: Photographers staging an Arab riot

It looks more like a fashion shoot than a news photographer. "Just hold that pose, ok baby, beautiful, turn a little more towards me, try to look angrier, I know you are wearing a hood, can you flex your muscles a little, hold on, your sleeve is in the way of my lens, ok, now we're talking, can you get a bigger rock? No? OK, now let 'er rip!"

The film clip showing an Israeli car hitting  two Arab children in Silwan on Friday was horrifying. No one can sit quietly and indifferently  while children - any children - are hurt before your eyes. Thank God the children survived and were not seriously injured.

What to do when in risk of being lynched

David Beeri ran over a kid when driving in the Silwan area. Beeri is director of the amuta "ELAD" which runs City of David and the archaeological digs. Beeri is by all accounts a good guy and not a rash or extremist settler, and he has generally good relations with Arabs.

Yet he is under attack as he was driving through Silwan and came upon a staged ambush - they had all the cameramen present and waiting for some good video - as a bunch of Arab kids were throwing rocks at cars. As they approached his car and prepared to throw rocks at it, Beeri says he froze and then realized his life was in danger so he sped up. He lost control for a moment and swerved, but regained control of the car. He hit two of the kids and kept on driving. he says the other option was to use his personal gun which he preferred not to do.

The video, which again shows that the attack, even though they were kids, was premeditated, also shows that his car windows were shattered by those little kids and little rocks, which shows how much danger he would have been in had he stuck around and let them attack him.

Beeri is now under investigation, but after the police saw the video they released him with guarantees, as the video indicates strongly that he did not run them over with intent, but to protect himself.
