Mama Rochel
Today is the 11th day of Cheshvan, the yahrtzeit of our matriarch Rachel whom we affectionately call,Mama Rochel. Light a candle in her memory and ask Hashem, in her merit, for whatever you wish.
Here's my dear friend Yaacov Shwekey singing "Mama Rochel", a moving song written by Abie Rottenberg. May her sacred memory guard over us.

Yaakov Shwekey Shlomi Shabat Concert Rehearsal
Yaakov Shwekey and Israeli singer Shlomi Shabat at Rehearsal before a sold out Concert "Shir L'Chayalim" at the famed Nokia Arena.160 musicians will take the stage at the Nokia Arena, a first for Israel!!!. Not only that, but the Israeli secular media is saying that the production for this concert is the biggest and most expensive setup Israel has EVER seen.
Joining Yaakov Shwekey on stage for this momentous event will be world renown Israeli superstar Shlomi Shabat, child star Mishel Cohen, Metalish and Lt. Colonel -- IDF Cheif Cantor Shai Avramson. The show is being produced by the dynamic team of Yochi Briskman and Sharon Daniel Yochi Briskman. The show entitled "Shir L'Chayalim" is Shwekey's way of expressing his great appreciation for people who give their lives every day -- hour by hour for the people and the country of Israel, IDF soldiers. two NEW songs will be debuted at the show BOTH composed by the multi-talented composer Yitzy Waldner.
This show will be recorded by multi-cameras in HD, and later will be released as a DVD/Double CD.

Shema Yisrael: Yaacov Shwekey - קליפ מרגש עד דמעות שוואקי שמע ישראל
Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman (1886-1969), The Ponovicher Rov of blessed memory, saved orphaned Jewish children from Catholic orphanages after the close of World War II. Although the priests and nuns denied that there were any Jewish children there, The Rov - accompanied by American officers - visited the orphanages at bedtime. He would call out "Shema Yisroel" and instinctly children raised their hands to cover their eyes, while crying in Yiddish, "Mama! Mama!" The holy Skolener Rebbe of blessed memory saved children in like fashion, one of whom lives in Ashdod and frequents our synagogue.
My dear and esteemed friend Yaacov Shwekey sings a moving rendition of the above story in "Shema Yisroel". In answer to all the Holocaust deniers, here is Yaacov singing with the backdrop of photos and film clips from the Holocaust. If you want to know why we need unshakable emuna and our uncompromising presence in our holy Land of Israel, see this (don't be discouraged by the first 60 seconds which tells the story of Rabbi Kahaneman in Hebrew). This is a must see:
