QUESTION: On Motion to Suspend the Rules and Agree
BILL TITLE: Reaffirming the United States commitment to a negotiated settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, and for other purposes
The bill warned the Palestine Authority that American support may be cut off if the P.A. pursues a statehood resolution in the UN. The symbolic resolution sent a stern message to the Palestinians one week after the U.S. Senate unanimously approved a similar measure. "Any Palestinian unity government must publicly and formally forswear terrorism, accept Israel's right to exist, and reaffirm previous agreements made with Israel," says the resolution, crafted by Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Democratic House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer. It warned of "serious implications for the United States assistance programs for the Palestinians and the Palestinian Authority" if they seek UN recognition of a future state.
Fewer than 2 percent voted against the bi-partisan bill in the House. (A similar bill in the U.S. Senate passed without any opposition.) Among the six who voted against were: Democrat Dennis Kucinich (whose radical-extreme-Left orientation leads him to favor the political left affinity towards “The Palestinians”), Nick Rahall (a West Virginia congressman of Arab descent who always votes against Israel for predictable reasons), and Republican Ron Paul. The other three are Democrat Earl Blumenauer, of Leftist out of Oregon who was Oregon State Chair of Obama’s Presidential campaign and who introduced an amendment to ObamaCare that would fund end-of-life counseling (which Palin called “death panels”), Justin Amash (at 31, the second youngest person in Congress, a Tea Party pro-life conservative, elected in Michigan during the big upheaval of 2010 – and who happens to be of Palestinian and Syrian descent, so it appears that he will continue being an anti-Israel force for many years if he keeps getting elected), and Republican Walter Jones of North Carolina (a Democrat who switched to Republican, a Southern Baptist who has switched to Roman Catholic, and a strong ally of Ron Paul).
All 13 who abstained by voting “present” are Democrats. They include Jim Moran of Virginia, whom many of us have long-regarded as an anti-Semite; Keith Ellison, the Moslem guy in Minnesota who was elected with the support of Jewish liberals who assured us that he is not anti-Israel; and Maxine Waters of Los Angeles, who is an idiot.
