koselIt will be forbidden to smoke at Israeli bus stops and public sites next month after the Knesset Labor, Welfare and Health Committee, headed by Likud Knesset Member Chaim Katz, passed a resolution today expanding current anti-smoking legislation.
The Knesset also forbade smoking within 10 meters of hospital entrances. The Knesset will also have “designated smoking rooms” in government offices removed.
The Knesset has also banned smoking at the Kosel Hamaarovi, as part of its anti-public smoking program.
Under the new legislation, public smoking areas in restaurants and social halls will be limited to 25 percent of the total space of the establishment, but no more than 15 square meters.
Israeli bus drivers have been told that they will be forbidden to smoke on their busses before passengers board.
