Damascus, (SANA) -The 85th Conference of the Liaison Officers of the Arab Regional Offices for the Boycott of Israel kicked off on Tuesday in Damascus with the participation of 15 Arab countries and representatives of the Arab League (AL) and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
The AL Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Affairs Mohammad Subeih pointed out that the conference plays a pivotal role in confronting occupation, racism and Israel's continued aggression against the Palestinian people.
Subeih noted that the Arab nation and the region at large are being exposed to Israeli and foreign conspiracies, "which requires unifying ranks to confront this fierce attack targeting the stability and security of the region."
He said that the Israeli government has escalated its racism by adopting a bill on the so-called 'citizenship law', pointing out that the efforts exerted in the framework of the boycott have started to yield fruits in terms of uncovering the real face of Israel as an apartheid state.
He expressed appreciation to Syria for hosting the Head Office of Arab Boycott (OAB) as well as for its commitment to the Arab interests and boosting the joint Arab action.
The OAB Commissioner-General Mohammad al-Tayyib Bu-Sala'a pointed out that the Arab people in Palestine and the occupied Arab territories are still exposed to brutal aggression and genocide by the Israeli enemy.
For his part, Commissioner-General of the Islamic Office of the Boycott of Israel Salem al-Ojaili al-Honi expressed the appreciation of the Organization of the Islamic Conference to Syria for its support to the Arab and Islamic issues.
He said that the course of political events regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict proves that Israel can never be a partner for achieving just and comprehensive peace in the region.
He went on saying that several countries of the world are aware of Israel's unwillingness to reach a peaceful solution, pointing out to the necessity of urging the international community to take decisions that guarantee political and economic sanctions on Israel to force it to stop settlement building and abide by international resolutions.
Head of the Syrian Regional Office of Boycott Ghias Badr Abbas said this conference is being held as Israel' racism is becoming clearer and the whole world is becoming more and more convinced that Israel does not want to take any move towards peace.
Abbas stressed that boycotting the Zionist entity is now more important than any time before, calling for commitment to the boycott.
He underlined Syria's commitment to hosting any forum that would help unify the Arab ranks.
