A short video clip is aiming for as many views as possible as part of a last-ditch effort to influence U.S. President Barack Obama to pardon Jonathan Pollard.
The producers of the video explain that their intention is to maxmize the exposure and raise awarness of the urgent need to free Pollard, and that the more viewers the clip gets on video sharing website YouTube, the greater its effect will be.
Israel will formally and publicly ask Obama to free Pollard, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu . He said that government officials have paved the way for an appeal through contacts with senior members of the Obama administration.Netanyahu acted after pleas by Pollard’s wife, Esther, and a string of events and reports that have weakened the American case for imposing a life sentence on Pollard. The Prime Minister’s office stated that the decision to appeal to President Obama “was made following a series of talks and contacts…in recent months with senior U.S. administration officials."
