Tonight, Wednesday evening March 20th, will be 10 Nissan, marking five years since the passing of our beloved, unforgettable Rosh HaYeshiva, Moreinu HaGaon Harav Alter Chanoch Henach Leibowitz zatzal. His yahrzeit will be observed here in the Yeshiva tomorrow [Thursday] morning with a Siyum Mishnayos after the 8 am Shacharis, and a breakfast for all, sponsored by an anonymous donor in memory of our Rebbe. The 63 Masechtos Mishnayos of Shas were studied by various talmidim and alumni of the Yeshiva over the last number of months, as a way to create a zchus for the ilui neshama of our Rebbe zatzal. It would be appropriate for all those whose lives were positively impacted by our Rebbe to take a few minutes out of our hectic, pre-Yom Tov schedules tonight or tomorrow, to learn some Mishnayos [or Mussar !!] in memory of Moreinu HaRav Alter Chanoch Henach ben Moreinu Harav Chaim Dovid HaKohen Leibowitz.
In further connection with the Rosh HaYeshiva’s yahrzeit, two weeks ago on Feb. 28th, a large gathering took place here at the Yeshiva for the Annual Yahrzeit Shiur and Shmuess. This is always held shortly before the end of the winter Zman, so that the students of the Bais Medrash and Kollel have a chance to work on the shiur presented, and to review it well with their rabbeim. The Pilpul Shiur was presented by Harav Dovid Harris shlita and can be listened to here: http://db.tt/XLuyIYBi The Shmuess was delivered by Harav Akiva Grunblatt shlita and can be listened to here: http://db.tt/fRiNT0gc , and additional divrei zikaron were offered by Rabbi BenTzion Chait, director of the Yeshiva’s National Torah Initiative, and can be listened to here: http://db.tt/H7pHILUQ. Hundreds of talmidim and alumni (and their wives) were in attendance and found it to be a most meaningful evening.
