Arutz Sheva reports that last night, Israel Police blocked 50 right-wing activists – many linked to the outlawed Kach Movement founded by Rabbi Meir Kahane – from entering the Arab village of Araba in the Lower Galilee. The right-wing activists were hoping to disrupt a wedding between an Arab man and a Jewish woman.
Among the right-wing activists came to disrupt the wedding were Baruch Marzel; former MK Dr. Michael Ben-Ari; and Benzi Gopstein, a member of the Kiryat Arba local governing council.
"We will fight any assimilation in the Holy Land. The Arabs should know it won’t work so easily for them. If a Jewish woman does not maintain her dignity, we will fight for her dignity,” Gopstein told Arutz Sheva, adding that the group’s failed attempt to protest the wedding was only the first attempt in a concerted plan to wipe out assimilation by protesting and disrupting all Jewish-Arab weddings.
Ben-Ari told Arutz Sheva that his group didn’t care about the disapproval of average Israelis.
“We came to say that the women of Israel belong to the Jewish people. Assimilation is one of the greatest tragedies of the Jewish people. Every Jew can sleep tonight while clicking his tongue, but he must know that another daughter of Israel has married an Arab,” he reportedly said.
