YNET: Bnei Brak, Israel - Israeli City Shoots For Guinness Book Record With "World's Longest Shabbat Table"

Bnei Brak, Israel - In hopes of being immortalized in the Guinness Book of World Records, the city of Bnei Brak, Israel has constructed a 60-meter (197 feet) long Shabbat table, capable of seating 300 people for the Friday evening gathering.
YNET news.com (http://bit.ly/12gSJew) is reporting that the event is the brainchild of the haredi advertising agency, Meimad, and the Coca-Cola company based in Israel.
An advertising spokesman, Menucha Stern, said the event was conceived as an alternative to traditional advertising messages, like sports, and beaches and secular music, which don’t identify with haredi values, and that the Guinness Book attempt is a conscious effort to offer a “spiritual-related” event.
According to YNETNews, the guest list for the event includes prominent public figures, journalists, and other noted members from Israel’s ultra-Orthodox community.
